At some point, you have considered the TCM cupping treatment as a means of maintaining your health. Cupping therapy is a primitive form of alternative medicine in which a therapist applies specialized cups to your skin for a few minutes to generate suction. The concept is to redirect blood to or from specific regions of the body.

Although it is presently in vogue, cupping therapy has its roots in the ancient cultures of Egypt, China, and the Middle East. Ancient Greeks were introduced to cupping by the Egyptians, who used it to treat almost all ailments. Acupuncture is closely associated with it in traditional TCM.

Type and wet are the two categories of TCM cupping treatment that you may need to deal with. In the traditional method, your healer places a flammable substance, such as alcohol, herbs, or paper, inside a cup and sets it on fire for either type. The cup is placed upside down on your skin as the fire is extinguished.

As soon as the air within the cup cools, it will undoubtedly leave a vacuum. This causes the skin to rise and become reddish as your blood vessels expand. A contemporary variation of cupping employs a rubber compressor to generate a vacuum within the cup, as opposed to fire.

Dry cupping is the preferred method worldwide due to its simplicity and absence of blood. Instead, the therapist applies the cups to your skin by compressing them with their palms, a pump, or a flame if using glass cups. The cups are left in position for a period of 5-10 minutes. The frequency of this TCM cupping treatment can be as frequent as once or twice per week.

It is possible to incorporate a massage into a dry cupping treatment. This is known as jogging cupping or massage cupping. For a massage-like experience, your therapist applies lotion or oil to your skin and moves silicone cups in a circular motion, up and down, or back and forth.

The primary objective of dry cupping is to increase blood flow and eliminate contaminants and fluids from the treatment area. In reality, the fluids are purported to contain elevated concentrations of substances that are associated with diseases.

Although there are numerous hypotheses, the precise mechanism by which TCM cupping treatment alleviates pain and cures diseases remains unclear. Although there haven’t been many scientific studies on cupping, it is a type of treatment that you should consider.
